Threaded Fasteners Golf Tournament to Benefit Team Focus

Nick Saban

MOBILE, Ala. (December 15, 2017) – Team Focus received a check for $25,000 from the Threaded Fasteners Charitable Foundation this week that will help support boys who lack father figures in their lives.

The money was raised through a charity golf tournament Mobile-based Threaded Fasteners Inc. has sponsored for 11 years. While the Oct. 7 event planned at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Mobile was canceled because of severe weather, teams and businesses that pledged funds through the tournament maintained their commitments.

“It was extremely disappointing when the weather came in and we had to cancel the golf tournament. Yet, what a testimony to see the commitment of our business partners never waiver in their support,” said Billy Duren, president of Threaded Fasteners Inc. “I am so grateful for the platform we have to serve Team Focus. Our company works on this tournament for months and truly embraces the vitally important mission of Team Focus. We are honored so many people continue to help us support Team Focus. What Coach Mike and Mickey Gottfried do to positively influence boys and young men through Team Focus is desperately needed in our world.”

The non-profit organization, Team Focus, which was founded in 2000 in Mobile by Mike Gottfried and his wife, Mickey, to help boys ages 10 to 18 who lack father figures in their lives. The mission of Team Focus is to provide a year-round program of support, encouragement and Godly values that foster the development of life skills in young men without active fathers by supporting the family structure. Team Focus uses role models and positive influences in mentoring, tutoring and other interactive initiatives to reach the youngsters. Team Focus has worked with more than 3,000 boys and young men since it was founded.

“Team Focus truly appreciates the past 10 years of support from Threaded Fasteners, but we receive so much more than finances from this generous company,” Mike Gottfried said. “The remarkable relationships we have developed with the people who work there demonstrate their strong desire to help our young men become leaders in their communities.” (Photo: Mike Gottfried)
